(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) An ubuntu workshop led by Helen Sayers, director and trainer, Oasis Human Resources Development, was held at The Chedi Muscat on Thursday. It was aimed at developing communication skills and encouraging conflict resolution and team building. The activities of the workshop were based on Ubuntu! The Spirit of Humanity, a resource book and training manual written by Helen. She said the word ubuntu cannot be easily translated into English or Arabic and according to South Africa's Xhosa culture it means, 'I am because we are'.Helen said, ''When I lived in Swaziland and Kenya, a ten-minute walk to the shopping centre could take half an hour as people would stop and talk to each other. Life is beautiful when we connect in this way. Oman is rich in ubuntu values.''She conducted a series of exercises to allow attendees to get know each other better. ''Our mission is to offer attendees a chance to discover something new which will add value to their lives,'' she said. Another ubuntu workshop will be held at the same venue on October 25.
