ECB keeps interest rate unchanged, at 0.75%

(MENAFN) The European Central Bank's (ECB) President, Mario Draghi, stated that the bank decided not to change its main interest rate, keeping it at a record low of 0.75 percent, reported Xinhua News. The interest rates on the marginal lending facility stayed unchanged at 1.50 percent, whereas interest rates on the deposit facility remained at 0.00 percent. Draghi said that the euro zone's economic growth is forecasted to stay weak, with continuing tensions in some of the region's financial markets while uncertainty still weighing on confidence and sentiment. It is worth noting that inflation expectations for the one-currency bloc remain in line with the aim of keeping its rates below, but near 2 percent over the medium term.
