Samsung estimates Q3 operating profit to hit USD7.29b

(MENAFN) Samsung Electronics announced that third-quarter operating profit is estimated to soar 90.59 percent from a year ago, hitting a record high of USD7.29 billion, reported Xinhua News. The world's largest manufacturer of handsets, memory chips, televisions and flat screens said that sales are estimated to jump 26 percent from a year earlier, reaching USD46.8 billion. In September, the South Korean company said that global Galaxy S3 sales surpassed the 20 million mark in only 100 days since its introduction in May, with the sales pace being 3 times faster than its predecessor Galaxy S2 and 6 times faster than Galaxy S. It is worth noting that analysts forecast the company's operating profit to exceed the USD6 billion mark once again in the fourth quarter, as a result of the launch of galaxy Note2.
