Marriott posts USD143m Q3 profit


(MENAFN) Marriott International Inc. announced that third-quarter profit grew to USD143 million, compared with a loss of USD179 million in last year's same period, reported AP. The hotel company said that revenue during the period reached USD2.73 billion, posting a decline of 5 percent from a year ago. On the other hand, revenue per available room, a key performance gauge for hotel firms, grew 7 percent. Moreover, group revenue at Marriott Hotels and Resorts in North America went up 8 percent, with room rates rising 3 percent, whereas revenue per room for all other travelers grew 6 percent. The Bethesda, Maryland-based company said that revenue per room during the fourth quarter is forecasted to grow between 5 to 7 percent in North America, and by 3 percent elsewhere. It is worth noting that Marriott runs Ritz-Carlton hotels, Fairfield Inn & Suites, Courtyard and Renaissance, in addition to other brands.
