(MENAFN- The Peninsula) DOHA: The ninth edition of internal security exhibition 'Milipol Qatar 2012', under the patronage of the Heir Apparent H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, will be held from October 8 to 10 at Doha Exhibition Centre. This was announced at a press conference yesterday.
Milipol Qatar Committee president Brigadier Nasser bin Fahad Al Thani said that preparations for the Milipol Qatar 2012 have been completed as per the work plan, adding the committee had participated in all major global security exhibitions and attracted many companies to the event.
"The 9th edition of Milipol Qatar has special significance given the unprecedented surge Qatar is witnessing in all fields, thanks to the wise polices and ambitious development plans, which provided the appropriate environment to attract investors and unleash energies. These made Qatar a major destination of investors with huge urban and economic projects such as New Port Project, Qatar Rail and Qatar's hosting world Cup 2022," he said.
Total reserved area is 5,623 sqm, which is 24 percent higher than the previous edition. A total of 265 companies from 38 countries will be participating in the exhibition, 11 of which are participating for the first time. They are Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Oman, Austria, Brazil, Bulgaria, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, and South Korea.
There will be eight pavilions comprising American pavilion (America, Canada), German Pavilion (Germany, Switzerland and Austria), Czech Pavilion, French Pavilion, Brazilian pavilion, Pakistan pavilion, Jordan pavilion and UAE pavilion. French and UAE pavilions are the biggest.
The Ministry of Interior Qatar is participating with a pavilion of 1,007 sq m and Internal Security Force (Lakhwiya) with 1,056 sq.m.
The Milipol Qatar committee president stressed that the event has become one of the major security exhibitions on international level and it gives the opportunity to know latest in security related technology and as well it meets security needs of Qatar, the GCC & Arab countries and other regional countries.
"Each year the exhibition is growing, more area is reserved and more global companies are participating as a result of the reputation gained by Qatar in all spheres and by the special interest taken by the Minister of State for Interior Affairs H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani in this exhibition," he said.
He thanked the sponsors including Abdullah Abdul Ghani and Bros (official sponsor), Qatar Petroleum (Diamond Sponsor), Saleh Al Hamad Al Mana (Platinum Sponsor) and other sponsors.
The General Manager of Milipol France Michael Weatherseed said that the marketing plan of the Milipol Qatar was successful as new companies and new countries are participating in this edition of Milipol. He added that 42 French companies are participating in the French pavilion and more than six French companies outside the French pavilion.
After the press conference Brig Nasser bin Fahad Al Thani launched Milipol Qatar 2012 website on Ministry of Interior web portal. The website provides information on activities of Milipol Qatar 2012, exhibited products, visitors' information and Milipol news.
