Samsung claims Apple copied patents to its iPhone 5

(MENAFN) As the patents war between archrivals Samsung Electronics Co. and Apple Inc. escalates, Samsung took the legal dispute to a new level as it claimed that Apple's iPhone 5 infringes its patents, reported Bloomberg. The recent claims about the iPhone 5 were added to an existing patent-infringement lawsuit between the two companies in federal court in San Jose, California. Scheduled for trial in 2014. This came after the South Korean company won a court order to lift a ban on its sales of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet computer in the US market. Apple has won a USD1.05 billion jury verdict against Samsung on August 24 in a separate patent case in the same court last month, after the jury found that Samsung infringed six of seven Apple patents. In their war, Samsung and Apple, the biggest two makers of smartphones, are currently fighting patent battles in four continents to retain their dominance in the estimated USD219 billion global smartphone market.
