Some lifestyle tips for healthy living

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)  Are you a busy entrepreneur or employee who is usually on the go and doesn't have a lot of time, but still wants to be healthier? Here are healthy lifestyle tips you can incorporate into your daily life to promote your health and well-being. Some are tips that you should implement on a daily basis and others are minor changes you can make to your life to foster healthy living, said Rachana Kalpekar, Dietician, Zulekha Hospital, Dubai. Exercise on the go If you work in an office, get up every one hour and go for a walk. If you have an office with stairs, run up and down the stairs every couple of hours and avoid using elevator. Plenty of fluids Drink 8 to 10 glasses of water daily it will help you with the digestion of food, absorption of nutrients, and the elimination of toxins from your body. Have good sleep You should sleep six to eight hours per day. This will help your body to replenish itself and gives your body time to rebuild its cells. Lack of sleep makes you feel tired and affects your eating habits. Simplify your choices Instead of being excessively concerned with counting calories or measuring portion sizes, think of your diet in terms of colour, variety, and freshness. This way it should be easier to make healthy choices. Start slow on changes Changing everything at once usually leads to giving up on your new habit. Make small steps like switching from full fat products to low fat and high fiber. Once you are habituated to one change, add a new one. Moderation is key Eat everything but in moderation. The goal of healthy eating is to develop a diet that you can maintain for life, not just for a few weeks or months. Don't skip your meal Skipping meals lowers your blood sugar which brings on cravings for high carbohydrate, high calorie foods. It is far better for you and your diet to eat three to four, even five small meals a day than one or two large meals. Carry handy snacks Snacking on something filling and nutritious beforehand can cut your hunger and also helps you not to skip meal. Always carry some fruits, snack bars, mixed nuts, low fat yoghurt with you. Plot your goals Believing you can achieve your goals is important, but you have to act too, by changing your eating habits, increasing your physical activity and so on.
