(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) It may have been balmy outdoors, but inside the atmosphere was icy cool at the Madinat Arena, Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai on September 20 when the region's most fashionable individuals came together for the Autumn/Winter 2012 Splash Fashion Show.Guests knew they were in for a treat with the invitations calling for fashion fit for royalty. And dress up they did, with attendees finding influence in everything from Duchess of Cambridge style day dresses and detailed obi belts to Queen Elizabeth I corsetry and embroidery, and everything in-between.When it was time for the fashion show to start, the 3,000 guests moved into the arena, which was set in a magical yet intimate winter courtyard with chandeliers, a glistening carpet and four catwalks that had two rows of guests on either side of them, allowing everyone to get a good view of the creations. What followed in the 20-minute show was a fusion of trends and styles that were pulled off in the manner that Splash is so well recognised for.The theme for the guests matched the designs on show perfectly, with military tailoring appearing alongside Eastern influences and dresses that wouldn't have appeared out of place in King Henry VIII's court.Colour is clearly key this season with a classic black palette being supported by rich, warming tones such as aubergine, plum, chocolate and moss green alongside gold and red for that truly regal feel. The fabrics are also given prominence this season, with glossy satins, lace, wool, fur, exotic skins, feathers, velvet and embellishments all making an attention-grabbing appearance. While both the men's and women's collection featured numerous well-cut tailored items, peplum cuts and throw-on or slouchy jackets were also used for layering purposes on top of pencil skirts and skinny trousers.Inspiration from the royal families of China, France and the UK was clear among the designs with 19th century tapestry appearing alongside ruffled necklines, kimono jackets and the type of detailing only royalty used to be able to afford. The collection closed with a beautiful golden creation that found inspiration from the famous gold Renaissance dress with a high Elizabethan collar that Queen Elizabeth I wore and was produced in a much more modern and wearable way.Raza Beig, CEO of Splash and Iconic, then took to the stage with the models. ''Each season the Splash Fashion Shows are uniquely themed, keeping in sync with the latest international catwalk trends, and this season Splash's AW'12 collection is inspired by the majestic figures of our world and a setting that included seasonal imagery."This season, we also got into an intimate, very exclusive environment where all fashion enthusiasts were treated as VIPs and got to witness the collection up close and pers-onal,'' he said. For the first time ever, the show was live streamed across all the brand's social media platforms and website so guests from around the region could watch the event.Fashion Royal came to a close with guests moving into the centre of the room for the intensely looked forward to after-party complete with birch trees and oriental dcor that matched the kimono-inspired trends, which the guests previously saw on the catwalk. The collection is available in all Splash stores until December 2012 and those who could not make it to the show can watch it on the Splash Fashion channel.
