Etihad to launch daily flights to Istanbul on Jan 1, 2013

(MENAFN) Etihad Airways stated that starting the first day of 2013, the carrier will launch daily flights between Abu Dhabi and Istanbul, from the current 5-weekly services, reported Arabian Business. The airline's president and CEO, James Hogan, said that the decision is attributed to strong performance and the potential for additional growth. Hogan added that Etihad keeps looking at ways to boost its codeshare partnership with Turkish Airlines in order to enhance its presence in Turkey, noting that by putting Etihad's EY-code on Turkish Airlines' 4-weekly flights to Abu Dhabi, in addition to their TK-coding on Etihad's flights on the route, the Abu Dhabi-based carrier brings strong feeds onto its network and theirs, generating notable revenue for the Istanbul-Abu Dhabi route. It is worth noting that Etihad launched its service to Istanbul in June 2009 with 4 non-stop weekly flights.
