(MENAFN- Jordan Times) Prime Minister Fayez Tarawneh on Wednesday said unemployment is one of the major challenges facing the Arab world and Jordan.
During a meeting with Arab Labour Organisation President Ahmad Lokman, Tarawneh called for activating the role of the private sector and civil society institutions in providing job opportunities, since the public sector cannot accommodate all job seekers.
Lokman briefed the premier on the status of the Arab labour force and the impact of the economic crisis on employment.
He noted that the unemployment rate in the Arab world increased by 2 per cent during the years 2011 and 2012.
