Kuwaiti authorities accused of 'stealing' dead US army man's organs

(MENAFN- Arab Times) The family of US military man who died in Kuwait while on duty has filed a complaint in the US courts accusing the Kuwaiti authorities of 'stealing' their son's organs including the heart, reports Al-Rai daily quoting reliable sources. The sources added the family has hired lawyers to go deep into the case to find out why their son's heart and parts of other organs particularly the brain had been removed. When the daily contacted the Directorate-General of Criminal Evidences Department, a senior official said there is no credibility for the US complaint. He said the department has received a letter from the US Embassy in Kuwait with a request to identify the cause of death and what action was taken by the department and why the samples were taken. The department also said it is normal procedure to remove a small sample of the organs including the brain to determine the exact cause of death. Since US officers have been commissioned to follow up the investigation into the incident, the Directorate-General of Criminal Evidences have denied removing complete organs but followed laid down procedures known in such cases to see if there is any suspicion behind the death or if the person died of natural causes. The source confirmed strict security measures are applied by the Directorate and the autopsy is recorded by CCTV cameras and the work of all employees.
