Apple asks US court to ban sales of Samsung products

(MENAFN) Apple Inc has requested a US court to permanently bar sales of products manufactured by Samsung Electronics that have infringed Apple's patents, reported Reuters. The US giant asked the court for USD707 million in damages, that include USD400 million as a damage award for design breach; USD135 million for willful infringement of its utility patents; USD121 million in supplemental damages based on the Korean firm's product sales not covered in the jury's deliberation; and USD50 million of prejudgment interest on damages through December 31. The firm wants the ban to cover any of the infringing products or any other product with a feature or features not more than colorably different from any of the infringing feature or features in any of the Infringing Products. In August, Apple won a USD1.05 billion verdict against Samsung, when a US jury found that the maker of the Galaxy smartphone had infringed significant features of the iPhone.
