Israel to provide facilities to Gaza, W. Bank

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Israel has announced that it would provide facilities for the Palestinians in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. The Israeli public radio quoted Commander of liaison and coordination in the Beit Hanoun (Erez), Colonel Mansour Khatib, as saying that under these facilities, the Palestinian Authority would receive USD 100 million shekels which would be transfered to banks in Gaza. Khatib expected the money transfer would take place next week because of the lack of liquidity in the Gaza Strip. He added that that Israel would also allow export of textiles and furniture from Gaza to the West Bank, pointing out that the new facilities also include allowing 100 new vehicles into the Gaza Strip per month. Israel imposed siege on the Gaza Strip in the summer of 2007, after Hamas militarily seized control of the sector. But Israel was forced under international pressure after the massacre committed against the peace activists on board the flotilla in May 2010 to ease the blockade.
