Kuwait- Top officer blamed of torture for 'extracting' confessions


(MENAFN- Arab Times) A senior officer at the Hawalli Investigation Department allegedly uses electric shock to extract confessions from suspects, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting sources close to the department. The sources pointed the senior officer carries the device with him which looks like a white cell phone that emits powerful electric charge. He reportedly terrifies the suspects to get confessions under duress. The sources added the officer has detained six workers of the well-known café in Salmiya although their papers are being processed. The workers are detained for violating residence laws. The sources revealed the officer is a partner in the café and took advantage of his authority to deal with his rivals.
