Emirates launches 4 weekly flights to Iraq's Erbil

(MENAFN) Emirates' senior vice-president of commercial operations, Shaikh Majid Al Mualla, stated that the carrier launched its service to Iraq's Erbil with an A340-300 aircraft, reported Khaleej Times. Al Mualla said that the capital of northern Iraq is the airline's third destination to the country, after Baghdad and Basra. The four-weekly flights to Erbil are expected to record notable traffic, as the city draws foreign investment with opportunities across several sectors, including construction, property development, oil and gas. The EK949 flight will depart from Dubai International Airport at 6:45am at local time, each Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, and will arrive in Erbil at 8:45am, whereas the return flight, EK950, will leave Erbil at 10:10am and land in Dubai at 1:50pm. It is worth noting that Erbil, which has a free trade zone like the one in Dubai, has a population of around 1.3 million people.
