(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A 30-year-old man was charged with molesting a girl under 14-years of age on Sunday in the Court of First Instance.
The man, who works in a motor workshop, is accused of groping and fondling the schoolgirl while her mother was clicking their photo in an herb and spice shop.
A police officer said that the girl's mother reported the incident, claiming that the man, an Iranian, had molested her daughter at a shop in Naif sometime after 9.30 pm in April.
The woman, a tourist, claimed that she was clicking souvenir photos of her daughter in a shop, when the accused, who was also in the shop, offered to click a picture of both of them.
In a friendly gesture, the girl's mother then asked the accused to stand with her daughter for a photo. The accused took advantage of the proximity to the teenager and groped and fondled her.
The police later went to the shop and arrested the defendant. The latter admitted that he was in the shop when the girl and her mother were there. He said he had gone to visit the owner of the shop. According to an officer, the accused admitted to touching the girl against her will and when asked about the reason why he did that "he looked scared and tensed."
During investigation, the girl's mother said that her daughter walked out nervous of the shop that day. The teenager told her mother that the accused touched her against her will as her mother was clicking a photo of them together.
The mother went back to the shop and confronted the accused with her daughter's claims. He sought forgiveness for his actions.
The Pubic Prosecution submitted the photograph of the girl and the accused inside the shop.
