(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Infra Oman 2012, the sultanate's second infrastructure exhibition, which will be held from October 2-4 at the Oman International Exhibition Center (OIEC), will see participation by more than 150 companies, according to the organisers.This year's edition will place the spotlight on the sultanate's current Five-Year Plan (2011-15) as infrastructure investments continue to grow and more development projects are implemented in the coming years. Oman's national railway project will also be a feature at the exhibition.The event will focus on construction requirements, infrastructure projects, power and water technologies, renewable energy and environment, heavy equipments, transportation and logistics, industrial equipment and other development projects.The event is being organised by Al Nimr Expo with cooperation from the Ministry of Transport and Communications and supported by the Muscat Municipality, as well as many local and foreign organisations.Addressing a press conference at the InterContinental Muscat on Sunday, Melwin D'Cunha, director of Al Nimr Expo, said that more than 80 per cent of the exhibitors are foreign companies and many of them will launch products and technologies during the exhibition.He said, ''Infra Oman is primarily intended to give contractors and developers an opportunity to present their projects and achievements, while providing them with a one-stop shop for sourcing all their project requirements.''''The number of exhibitors will be almost double from last year. We have got good support from many countries. The event will also provide local and international companies the opportunity to introduce their products, equipment, technologies and services to their target clients in Oman's vibrant building and construction industry,'' he added.Salim Omar al Hashmi, CEO of Al Nimr Expo, said that the Infra Oman exhibition has grown significantly since its debut last year and has established itself as the Middle East's leading infrastructure and industrial projects exhibition. He said, ''The event is an ideal platform for all contractors and developers to meet and present their projects and source their requirements.''Infra Oman 2012 will be held under the patronage of H E Dr Rasheed al Safi Khamis al Huraibi, chairman of the Tender Board, who will inaugurate the event on October 2.
