(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) has decided to postpone its first ever elections, originally scheduled to be held on October 31. A fresh date for the polls will be finalised at the OOC's general assembly in mid-November.The decision to delay the polls, which are likely to take place early next year, was taken on Saturday at the third meeting of the OOC's board that was held under the chairmanship of the OOC's acting chairman Habib Macki.As reported by Muscat Daily last week, the board has decided to delay its polls because the OOC first wants all the national sports bodies to wrap up their respective elections.Saturday's meeting was attended by the chairmen of the various sports bodies that come under the OOC's ambit._________________________________Asian Indoor-Martial Arts Games in Incheon
The OOC's board also decided that Oman will participate in the fourth Asian Indoor-Martial Arts Games, to be held Incheon, South Korea from June 29-July 6, 2013. The tournament will act as a test event for the 2014 Asian Games, which will be hosted by Incheon.The disciplines included at the Asian Indoor-Martial Arts Games are short-course swimming, billiards, bowling, chess, dance sports, futsal, kabaddi, kickboxing, electronic sports (competitive video gaming), kurash (central Asian wrestling) and muay (Southeast Asian martial arts).Also, the Omani delegation for the Olympic Council of Asia's (OCA) general assembly in Macau, China, from November 6-9 was approved at the meeting.Hilal al Sinani (OOC general secretary), Said al Busaidy (Oman Handball Association chairman) and Mutassim al Zadjali (Oman Tennis Association chairman) will represent the sultanate at the summit in Macau.Plans to host a workshop to discuss the statutes of the OOC and the postponement of the GCC Beach Games in Saudi Arabia were also discussed in Saturday's meeting.
