(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Indian School Darsait's (ISD) school management committee (SMC) will meet on Sunday to take a final call on the fate of five class XI students, who were expelled earlier this month over poor academic performance.''The parents, however, have requested us to revoke their expulsion and promote them to class XII. These students had also failed in many subjects in re-examinations'. In this situation, the principal cannot act on his own and promote them. So, the committee, which is meeting on Sunday, will take a final call,'' said Omanakuttan, president of SMC, ISD.The five students were expelled after the summer vacations, citing poor performance. ''The school always wants hundred per cent results. This is the reason why these students have been debarred from attending classes. It has put my son in great difficulty."Right now, he is attending classes, along with another expelled student, at a private institution in Ruwi. This development has shaken him, forcing me to take him to a counsellor,'' said a parent of the expelled student. The third expelled student has returned to India while the remaining two are clueless about what to do next.Basher, who was in the group which met the principal, said, ''Terminal exams are not far away but they do not know when they will be back to the school to pursue their class XII studies. We have met the principal and held talks with the board of directors of Indian Schools in Muscat on this issue.''According to Omanakuttan, parents of these five students were explained the reasons behind their expulsion. ''We also advised them to ask their children to appear for open school exams for class XII, as it is relatively easy.''The father of Akhil Srikumar, one of the expelled students, said, ''My son has been studying in ISD since KG2. Allow him to complete the course. Whether he passes or fails is another issue.''
