San Francisco, CA- Spanish has become the second largest language spoken in Europe. It has overtaken the Italian language for its sexy and attractive accent. The youth of Europe have also become very keen to the study of this language.
WEA, an institution of modern languages, has released the current figure of student enrollment, which shows a great increase in students studying the Spanish language. According to the WEA, there are 534 students enrolled in Spanish language classes, whereas the Italian learners are behind with a total number of 502 students in the institution.
There has been a trend among the new generation for learning foreign languages over the years. This fact has increased many-fold in the last decade. Charlene Darmadi, the spokesperson of the WEA, told the media that their institution has been enrolling large numbers of students in recent years. She stated that Spanish remains among the most prominent among languages. She also stated that an overall 50% increase has been noted in Spanish learners since 2002.
Darmadi said that there were some 1990 students enrolled in their institution in 2002, whereas now there are almost 3,000 students learning Spanish over other native languages.
She added, "Some are certainly learning languages like Swahili because they work with new migrants or are involved in community groups," according to Adelaidenow.com.au
Angela Scarino , spokesperson of UniSA, also believes that there is an increasing trend towards Spanish learning. Ms. Aponte, who is learning Spanish herslef, called it a soft-spoken and easy to learn language.
"I think people also find the language sexy and easy to learn. sasid Scarino.
