Oman- Biman Airlines passengers stranded for two days


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Passengers of Biman Bangladesh Airlines were stranded in Muscat for two and a half days. Their flight, which was slated to leave Muscat International Airport for Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Bangladesh in the early hours of Wednesday, finally took off on Friday at 3am.An employee of Al Falaj hotel, who did not wish to be named, said on Thursday evening that the passengers, mainly Bangladeshi nationals, checked into the hotel after their flight was delayed for a second time. ''We have 74 passengers from Flight 22 staying with us.According to the information given to me, they will be picked up at 10pm on Thursday for their flight in the early hours of Friday.''Noor al Islam, an irate traveller, said while checking into the hotel, ''Our flight was cancelled on Tuesday. Most of the passengers had received calls ahead of time. But today, we were made to show up at the airport only to be told the flight is cancelled again,'' he said.Mohammed Abdul Halim, another traveller was upset with the delay as his family in Bangladesh had made preparations to welcome him in Dhaka. ''These delays are an inconvenience to everybody involved,'' he said.According to Bangladeshi media, the delay was caused because of a row between Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Air Atlanta Icelandic over the aircraft's lease.
