UAE- Hundreds attend boy's funeral


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The body of six-year-old Emirati boy Hamad Abdulla Al Ali, who fell into the Nile in Cairo during a night cruise with his family on Friday, was laid to rest in Sharjah Industrial Area 3 cemetery after the Dhuhr prayers. Hundreds of people attended the funeral. The funeral started with the prayers at Al Sahaba Mosque which was filled with worshippers who offered the four-salute prayer known as Swalat Al Janaza. The funeral prayers as well as the burial took place alongside those of another Emirati, Ahmed Yahya. Abdullah Al Ali, father of Hamad, thanked the UAE government and community for all the support they had shown him in the hard times since his son drowned. "I have got calls of condolences from Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Shaikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan from Abu Dhabi, Shaikh Tayyeb bin Saqr Al Qasimi from Ras Al Khaimah and many others, all sharing my pain and praying for me to be strong and accept the will of Allah," he said. He said that the UAE Embassy in Cairo was in touch as soon as the accident happened and remained with them offering all kinds of support including the repatriation of the body. He said the tragedy struck them around 10pm on Friday. They were all on the cruise with other families when his son suddenly slipped and fell into the river.
