Kuwait- Building Jahra highways with new technology

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait's Ministry of Public Works revealed Sunday that the reinforced concrete slabs, beams and other items used in the building of Jahra highways are manufactured in a special yard with special technology employed for the first time in the Middle East region. During a tour to the reinforced precast and pre-stressed concrete blocks manufacturing yard, Eng. Yasser Budstor, who is in charge of Jahra road overhauling project, told reporters that the concrete slabs, beams and other parts of Jahra highways are manufactured and would be installed with a new high quality technology. He pointed out that the new technology facilitates the process of creating the highways especially those of several three layers. It, however, requires giant cranes to install the huge precast reinforced concrete parts, he added. Budstor noted that yard, which is built on 150,000 square meters area, is the largest in Kuwait and has the state-of-the-art technology in this heavy industry. He underlined that the project uses the pre-cast and pre-stressed concrete parts to create stronger highways that can be built faster, longer, and more slender. He disclosed that the Jahra Yard is divided into five units; concrete plant, steel plant, block molding and processing unit, storage unit and staff offices. The Yard has manufactured 24 pieces of bridges and 20 pieces others are in pipeline. The Yard has also supplied the Jahra project with 75 percent of the casting molds.
