9 Amman food outlets closed over violations


(MENAFN- Jordan Times) Nine food outlets have been closed and 31 others have been forced to suspend work in Amman since the start of this month due to health violations, according to Health Minister Abdul Latif Wreikat. At a press conference, Wreikat, who is also chairman of the Jordan Food and Drug Administration, added that 106 food outlets had received warnings since the start of September, noting that health inspectors have made more than 296 field visits to eateries and shops during the last eight days. He said 40 food outlets had been suspended from work during the same period in other governorates, while 19 were closed and 31 received warnings. The minister reiterated that the names of restaurants that violate food safety regulations will be made public if they are closed down three times.
