Kuwait- Traffic dept gets tough with violators


(MENAFN- Arab Times) Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs Major General Mahmoud Al-Dousari and Assistant Undersecretary for General Traffic Directorate Major General Mustafa Al-Za'abi supervised an extensive traffic and security campaign to deter law and traffic violators, and reckless motorists. The campaign was initiated under the directives of First Deputy Premier and the Minister of Interior Sheikh Ahmad Al-Humoud Al-Sabah and the Undersecretary of Interior Lt. General Ghazi Al-Omar, with the aim of implementing law to deter violations. The campaign focused on areas in the Capital, Hawalli and Ahmadi governorates, after security operatives received several complaints from citizens and expatriates against reckless drivers who emerge at the weekend to disturb residents and families. In the meantime, traffic checkpoint was erected on the Second Ring Road, blocking access to the Sabah Salem Cooperation Society parking area. The operation resulted in the issuance of 10 citations against motorists in tainted glass vehicles playing loud music and disturbing public order. Also, another checkpoint was set up on the Second Ring Road and Damascus Street, and several citations were issued against motorists using mobile phone while driving and without seat belts, as well as tainted glass vehicles and some cars were also impounded. On the Arabian Gulf Street, opposite a popular fast food restaurant toward Kuwait City, officers erected another security checkpoint and issued several citations against reckless drivers, and impounded two cars. They continued their campaign to the entrance of Khairan Entertainment City, where two people wanted by law for civil cases were arrested and referred to the relevant authority. Finally, 12 citations were issued against motorists on Jamal Abdul Nasser Street, opposite the University Roundabout.
