Jordan- Land department employees strike to demand better salaries

(MENAFN- Jordan Times) Department of Land and Survey (DLS) Spokesperson Ibrahim Zu'bi on Tuesday said a committee formed by the finance minister was studying the demands of around 1,500 employees working in 34 DLS branches across the Kingdom, who began an open-ended strike on Tuesday. Zu'bi said the demands include salary raises and better working conditions. Tayel Saudi, spokesperson for the striking employees, said the move came in response to the ministry's "neglect" of their demands. A committee representing the employees had met with the finance minister two weeks ago, Saudi said, adding that the minister promised to study the demands and meet them within 15 days. But Saudi said the ministry had yet to meet the employees' demands. Similar strikes were also held in Tafileh, Karak and Southern Mazar.
