Qatar's KAHRAMAA awards USD68m reservoir contract to HLG


(MENAFN) Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) has awarded a USD68 million contract to Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG) to build reservoirs in the Gulf emirate, Arabian Business reported. HLG is a joint venture between Dubai's Al Habtoor Group and Australia's Leighton Holdings. Under the contract, HLG will construct nine new six-million gallon reservoirs at Umm Qarn and one 25-million gallon reservoir at Al Duhail, along with pipe works, associated MEP and instrumentation works, road works and landscaping. This is the fourth contract from KAHRAMAA to HLG. The utility has awarded the original USD210 million contract to HLG in 2009 for the construction of the Duhail and Umm Qarn Reservoirs in 2009. HLG has won USD130 million deal to help redevelop Dubai Creek and a USD515 million contract to redevelop the Metropolitan Hotel in Dubai.
