(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Planning and Survey Department of the Ajman Municipality has completed the designs and plans for the proposed Heritage Village, which includes 10 heritage projects. Speaking to Khaleej Times, Mohammed bin Omair, Director of the Department of Planning and Survey, said the Heritage Village includes various projects such as Salih Souq, old heritage city, reviving of museums and its roundabout and Eid Mussalah. He said the project aimed at attracting tourists and visitors, preserving Emirati culture and heritage and also at educating new generation about the lifestyle and heritage of the ancestors. Mohammed bin Omair explained that the execution of the project started with the work for Salih Souq, as the municipality had assigned a contractor to carry out the project in the heritage area. He explained that the heritage project was recommended in the meeting of Ajman Urban Planning Council, which was organised in March last year. The project also aimed at organising traditional and heritage entertainment activities to attract investors and preserving the old architectures of heritage buildings by reviving and modifying them. He pointed out that the project also would contribute to documenting the distinctive heritage architecture and maintaining the old buildings and heritage areas. As part of its efforts to preserve the heritage architectures in Ajman, the Department of Planning and Survey is working to initiate work at the heritage area in Al Nakheel, which still carry the old features in its buildings constructed in early sixties. Now the municipality has completed preparing a set of rules and conditions to preserve the heritage areas in Ajman. This regulations will be presented for experts from various countries in the new Ajman Urban Planning conference in March.
