Kuwait- 'Don't exploit citizens, expats'


(MENAFN- Arab Times) Abdulaziz Al-Ibrahim, the State Minister for Municipal Affairs has said the health and safety of people in the country is 'red line' that must not be crossed by any means, reports Al-Rai daily. He also said the monitoring team from the Municipality keeps observing the situation to avoid exploitation of citizens and expatriates. He added that severe sanctions would be imposed on food companies that commit violations and decline to follow regulations or laws set by the Municipality. He noted the new policy does not ignore violations related to the safety and security of people. In a related development, the Public Relations Department affirms that strict sanctions will be placed on every food company distributing foodstuff before the results of sample tests and the owner will be referred to Commercial Prosecution for legal action. In relation to the issue of sausages containing pork, the department says the municipality has dealt with the matter, indicating the concerned authorities shut down the warehouse and referred the company to Commercial Prosecution. In addition to that, a circular has been issued across the six provinces to withdraw every sausage distributed in the market.
