Summer spurs sales at Sharjah Ramadan fair

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The scorching sun and the summer vacation period have failed to dampen sales at the nearly-month-long Ramadan & Eid Fair at Expo Centre Sharjah which concluded on August 19, revealed a survey of the exhibitors who took part in the 26th edition of the fair. They attributed the bumper sales to factors like rise in visitor numbers, increase in the time spend by visitors at the stalls, surging consumer confidence, tourist arrivals from Arab states and the popularity and reputation acquired by the show and the venue as a complete family destination during Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr. The show, which got under way on July 26, registered nearly 90,000 footfalls in 25 days. During most weekends and towards the end of the Ramadan, the halls were almost packed to their brim with mostly families, consisting of residents from Sharjah, other emirates and tourists. "In the region, Ramadan is the strongest trading period for several retail segments like household items, food products, fashion and gifting solutions... be it summer or winter. Couple that with our aggressive marketing and promotional activities across target markets, every Ramadan and Eid Fair gets better with impressive rise in exhibitor and visitor numbers," said Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, Director-General, Expo Centre Sharjah.
