Kuwait- Woman acquitted of drug trafficking inside Central Prison

(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Criminal Court, chaired by Judge Hamoud Al-Muttawa, acquitted a woman of trafficking in drugs inside the Central Prison. The court also refrained from imposing a sentence on the woman for the charge of possessing narcotics for personal consumption. Case files indicate the Drug Control General Department instructed a team of anti-narcotics officers to put the woman under surveillance after receiving information that she is trading in drugs inside the prison and keeping some for her personal consumption. The officers then raided her house where they found an undisclosed amount of drugs. During interrogation, she allegedly confessed to selling drugs on behalf of an inmate. Attorney Faisal Al-Otaibi, who represented the woman in court, demanded for the acquittal of his client due to lack of incriminating evidence.
