Catalonia becomes third Spanish region to request aid


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) The financially burdened Spanish region of Catalonia on Tuesday became the third district to request access to a special state account for fiscally troubled states, dpa reported. Catalonia requested a 5-billion-euro (6.3-billion-dollar) package from the Spanish government to help it avoid bankruptcy. The fund, set up this summer, contains 18 billion euros. Valencia and Murcia have already petitioned for assistance.
