(MENAFN- Arab Times) An Arab national was arrested recently by officers of Directorate General for Drug Control (DGDC) in possession of more than seven kilograms of drugs.
In a press statement issued by the Ministry of Interior, it was reported that when the Operations Department at DGDC received information about an unemployed individual, who was staying in the country illegally and was involved in drug trafficking to earn money, a team was formed for investigations.
After confirming through investigations, legal steps were taken to arrest the suspect.
The officials managed to arrest the suspect at the annex of a building, which he had rented to store the drugs, and found three kilograms of Opium and four kilograms of hashish, certain quantity of heroin and other intoxicants.
During interrogations, he revealed that he used to sell the drugs, which he brought in overseas, to the youth and teenagers.
He was arrested and referred with the illicit items to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against him.
Meanwhile, another Arab national 31 years of age was arrested recently by officers of Directorate General for Drug Control (DGDC) for possession and sale of 2402 narcotic pills.
Reportedly, when the Operations Department at DGDC received information about an Arab national involved in drug trafficking, a team was formed for investigations.
Necessary legal actions to arrest the suspect were taken, after which an undercover agent contacted him to buy drugs and they agreed to meet at a residential area.
The suspect was arrested while he was handing over the drugs to the security agent. Securitymen then rushed to his apartment, which they checked and found drugs, cling film wrappers and so on.
During interrogations, he admitted that the drugs belonged to him. He was referred with the illicit items to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against him.
