(MENAFN Press) Etisalat's Managed Services Solutions (MSS) department has received an ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certificate from Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance, the Corporation announced today.

The certification is in recognition of the Managed Services team's commitment to implement international standards in information security management systems for customers in the UAE.

Managed Services Solutions is one of the core departments within Etisalat, providing a range of Managed services including, network management services such as routers, switches, voice and UC management, as well as security management services such as secured remote access, firewall and unified threat management, data center management and application management.

The solutions cater to Etisalat'sbusiness customers in the UAE. Managed Services Solutions provides customers, a proactive monitoring, management and service support agreement on a 24x7 basis throughout the year.

The certificate was handed over to Etisalat by Mr. Nabil Tifratine, Area Financial Controller “ Middle East & Africa of Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance, a well-known certification body accredited by UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Services) and specializing in the assessment & certification of management systems such as IEC/ISO 27001, ISO 9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001, in a ceremony held in Etisalat's Al Kifaf building.

Speaking on the certification, Mr. Fadhil Alansari, EVP/ Etisalat Engineering, said: "This new accomplishment reflects the ongoing enhancement of our managed servicesas per international standardswith the ultimate aim of providing the best products and services to our customers.

The Managed Services Solutionsdepartment is a key unit and remains an integral component of the overall security assurance within Etisalat. These new standards will be valuable to our customers, who can now benefit fromthe enhanced quality and security standards".

"This distinction confirms Etisalat's success in its strategy to offer distinguished operational performance in all fields, while ensuring the Corporation's continued competitiveness," he said.

The ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certificate, which technology and telecommunications companies all over the world seek to achieve, implements a security management system according to international standards in order to achieve adequate and proportionate security controls that protect information assets and give confidence to interested parties.


The certificate is a validation ofEtisalatManaged Services team's commitment to information security and customer satisfaction.

ISO/IEC 27001:2005 specifies the requirements for establishing, implementing, operating, monitoring, reviewing, maintaining and improving a documented Information Security Management System within the context of the organization's overall business risks.

It specifies requirements for the implementation of security controls customized to the needs of individual organizations or parts thereof.

The certificate, which was presented by Lloyd's, determines the ability of companies to meet required working practices through field visits and examination of systems, in order to meet customer requirements.

Etisalat is maintaining since many years the certification of quality & environmental management systems ISO9001 & ISO14001 for more than 20 departments and Business Units.

"The Corporation believes in the importance of implementing systems that increase quality culture in all aspects of the organization," Fadhil added.
