(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Two accidents on Monday, one in Salalah and the other in Yanqul, have led to the death of 12 people and injury of ten. In the first incident, a collision between three vehicles resulted in the death of nine people " seven UAE nationals of the same family and two Omani nationals.
An ROP official said that seven people, which included a seven year old child, sustained serious injuries and were taken to the Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah. The vehicles were badly damaged.
A truck travelling from Al Mughsayl to Salalah had crashed into a four wheel vehicle carrying eight passengers which suddenly crossed its path, and the two vehicles collided into another vehicle containing six passengers.
In Yanqul, a collision between three vehicles resulted in the death of three and injury of three others. The injured were taken to Ibri Hospital.
The accident was caused due to careless overtaking. The driver overtook the vehicle without paying attention to the vehicle coming from the opposite direction. The two vehicles crashed and later collided into another vehicle, an ROP statement said. The ROP official has asked drivers to adhere to traffic rules and regulations, and to exercise caution while driving.
