Jordan- Tafileh factory women protest against overdue salaries

(MENAFN- Jordan Times) Women workers at the Tafileh Factory for Clothes and Textiles staged a sit-in on Saturday, calling on the company to disburse their salaries, which they claim not to have received in over three months. The workers pledged to continue protesting until their demands are met, noting that they had informed the local administration, represented by Tafileh Governor Hashem Suheim, and other official agencies that some 100 employees had not received their salaries for months. They noted that the Ministry of Labour pays the largest portion of their salaries to the factory to cover their food and transportation costs, charging that the factory's chairperson has been delaying their salaries without an excuse. Meanwhile, the director of the Tafileh labour department, Atef Hreishat, said the labour ministry had issued a written warning to the factory's administration for failing to pay the salaries of its workers.
