(MENAFN - Arab Times) Officials from the Ministry of Communications deny rumors spread at the social networking sites-Facebook and Twitter, saying the ministry would increase charges on landline, public transport and postal services, reports Alam Al-Yawm.
Sources added the ministry seeks to increase the annual revenue of state treasury but has no intention to burden the citizens and residents with additional charges for services.
He noted the recent increase on levies for services incited angry reaction, although the charges were not much compared to the rates other transport ministries charge in some countries.
Sources disclosed the Minister of Communications Salem Al-Utheina is asking officials of the ministry to initiate new projects and improve on existing services to boost the annual revenue, given that the ministry yielded more than 100 million in proceeds last year.
