Apple wins patents case against Samsung

(MENAFN) Apple Inc has won a USD1. 05 billion compensation in a lawsuit against Samsung Electronics, as a US jury found the Korean company had copied critical features of the popular iPhone and iPad, Reuters reported. The court's decision could lead to a full ban on sales of key Samsung products in the US market, meaning that Apple will be the dominating the exploding mobile computing market. The jury deliberated for less than three days before delivering the verdict on seven Apple patent claims and five Samsung patent claims, suggesting that the nine-person panel had little difficulty in concluding that Samsung had copied the iPhone and the iPad. Apple's victory could present issues to companies that sell Android-based smartphones and tablets, including Google's own Motorola subsidiary, which it acquired last year for USD12.5 billion, and HTC of Taiwan. The legal fight began last year when Apple sued Samsung in multiple countries, and Samsung countersued.
