(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Investigations into the death of a Filipino woman in a Qurm flat have revealed that she was murdered by her compatriot.
The accused, a woman, has been arrested and is said to have confessed to have killed 51 year old Maria Lourdes Saldivar Montarde with a knife.
''The accused admitted to the crime. She used a knife for the murder and the motive was personal enmity. The woman is now in police custody and is being referred for trial,'' an ROP official said.
Muscat Daily had reported that the body of Maria, a fitness instructor, was found inside her Qurm flat. ROP personnel and her colleagues had to break open the door to enter the apartment after she did not report for work for a couple of days.
Officials at the Philippines Embassy in Muscat said that her body would be repatriated once investigations close.
''We are in touch with the deceased's family in the Philippines,'' an official at the official said.
