 | Egypt Closes Rafah Crossing from Saturday to Tuesday  |  |

(MENAFN - Qatar News Agency) Reliable sources at the Gaza Crossing Department on Friday announced that Rafah land crossing would be closed as from tomorrow, Saturday until next Tuesday Evening on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr( lesser bairam).
The sources said that the Egyptian side have informed the Palestinian side that the aforesaid crossing would be closed as from tomorrow , Saturday , until next Tuesday evening noting meantime that around 900 travellers left the Gaza Strip via Rafah crossing.
Meanwhile Israel has closed the Kerem Shalom crossing until Tuesday for Eid al-Fitr, a Palestinian official said Friday.
Border official Raed Fattouh told Ma'an news agency Friday that Israel usually closes the crossing on Fridays and Saturdays.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said 1,024 truckloads of goods entered the Gaza Strip in the second week of August, 50 percent of them carrying food.
OCHA said the weekly average of truckloads is currently 1,024 while before Israel and Egypt began blockading the territory the number stood at 2,807 on average.
The report said the average number of export truckloads was five in 2012 but 240 before the blockade.
