Oman- His Majesty issues Royal Orders to build more mosques


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) As Ramadan benevolence and as extension of Royal grants, His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said has issued orders to build more mosques across in the sultanate.

According to the Royal Orders, three new mosques will be built in Ghala industrial area in Muscat governorate and 17 will come up in South Sharqiyah.

These include two in the wilayat of Masirah and one each in Al Tahayem, Juwyrah, Jahid, Qashir, Al Muraibi, Al Seih A'Sharqi and Falaj Al Mashaikh triangle.

Duqm in Al Wusta too will have a new mosque. New mosques will also come up in the wilayats of Haima, Abu Mudhabi and Al Kihel.

The mosques in Soqarah, Al Lakbi and Nfoon are to be rebuilt, according to the Royal Orders, which cover also include rebuilding and maintenance of 60 mosques in the mountains of Samhan, Al Qira and Al Qamar in Dhofar governorate.

H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammad al Salmi, the Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs said that the Royal Orders affirms His Majesty's belief in the role of mosques as channels of Islamic discourse and religious awareness.

He said His Majesty the Sultan took keen interest in the affairs of these mosques by choosing competent personnel, imams and preachers.
