(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) In what looks like a planned crime, an employee of the Al Ajmi Feras Exchange in Liwa was attacked and robbed of RO16,000 on Sunday morning, allegedly by five persons who came in a rented car. The senior executive was on his way to the exchange from his house with the previous day's collection when he was targeted.
Salim al Ajmi, the owner of the exchange said, ''Our senior executive was robbed at around 9.30am on Sunday. The robbery took place just outside his house. There were five persons who attacked him. His brother, who heard his shouts for help, too was attacked and the bag containing the cash was taken away. Since Saturday was a bank holiday, he took the day's collection home hoping to deposit it the next day.
Sohar police officials investigating the case have said that they found the Nissan Sunny car used in the robbery abandoned in a deserted area in Sohar. The car rental company employees have revealed that a Bangladeshi national had hired it. Police suspect that his four accomplices are Omanis and fearing that the suspects may try to slip out of the country, they have alerted border checkposts around Sohar.
