Kuwait- MoD orders release of detained officers

(MENAFN- Arab Times) Chief of Army Staff Lieut-General Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah issued a decision on Monday for the release of military officers held on disciplinary grounds on the occasion of the Eid Al-Fitr. The statement in this regard added that this move was upon directives of Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Ahmad Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. "This generous and humane gesture comes to enable the officers and their families to celebrate and enjoy Eid." The Sentences Enforcement Department is applying a double standard policy concerning verdicts issued by courts and this policy is resented by the judicial and legal sources, reports Al-Seyassah daily. The concerned authorities have severely criticized the inaction of the Department in arresting Badi Al-Dosari because he had failed to abide by the court order in a case of abuse and assault on the Director of the General Department of Immigration Major-General Kamel Al-Awadhi. The sources added a warrant was issued three weeks ago for the arrest of Al-Dosari but he is still at large. There is documentary proof that he has failed to carry out social service as per court order. Judicial sources say there are instances when the security authorities have arrested men wanted by law to serve sentences in less than an hour and a clear testimony of this is the arrest of former MP Mohammed Al-Juwaihel and several other citizens but the same authorities have failed to enforce the law on Dosari. The sources attributed the failure to double standard policy.
