Oman- MEDC invites bids for awareness campaign against theft of assets

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat Electricity and Distribution Company (MEDC), on behalf of Nawras, Omantel, Haya and other electricity distribution companies, recently floated a RFP inviting public relations and media agencies to submit their proposals for a ‘National awareness campaign for the protection of vital utilities assets from theft and vandalism'.

Theft and vandalism of vital public utilities network assets (electricity, water, telecom, waste water) for the purpose of obtaining steel and copper to be sold as scrap, pose serious threats to the safety of the people and results in overall loss of assets.

As a unified effort to combat this rising problem, an executive committee on ‘Enforcement of Regulations of Scrap Collection and Sale', consisting of members from public and private sectors, has been formed to tackle the issue.

The tasks entrusted upon the committee are to raise awareness among members of the community, citizens and residents to drive awareness about the importance of their own involvement in the protection of assets of vital utilities from theft and vandalism.

''We are pleased to put our expertise in the field of public awareness campaign for the protection of assets from vandalism and theft. MEDC presented a media plan to the executive committee on the Enforcement of Regulations pertaining to scrap collection and sale and was received with appreciation.

"MEDC has been conducting campaign by itself on this regard,'' said Zahran Zahir al Ruqeishi, corporate communications specialist, MEDC.

The RFP document can be collected from the head office at Al Khuwayr (contracts section) during working hours from

8am to 1pm. A non-refundable amount of RO150 will be charged per document and payment will be via (Visa Electron) BankMusca
