Jordan- GAM closes 12 food outlets for health violations


(MENAFN- Jordan Times) The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) closed down 12 food outlets last week for violating public health and safety regulations. GAM has also issued 37 tickets to butcheries, frozen food shops and cafeterias for failing to abide by health regulations, according to a GAM statement e-mailed to The Jordan Times on Sunday. Six tonnes of spoiled food and 6,200 litres of juices unfit for human consumption were confiscated by GAM teams, according to the statement. Meanwhile, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported that the Jordan Institution for Standards and Metrology (JISM) has referred the owners of one gas station and nine fuel tankers that were not in compliance with the institution's standards to court. JISM Director General Haydar Zaben said the institution inspected around 800 gas stations and 100 fuel tankers. He indicated that JISM also referred eight bakeries and one sweets shop to court for violating the law.
