Iran will construct 4 refineries based on local expertise: Official

(MENAFN) Iranian deputy oil minister for research and technology, Mohammad-Reza Moqaddam, stated that the country will set up 4 refineries based on local expertise, reported Tehran Times. Moqaddam said that the government is finalizing the deals for the refineries, which will consist of 2 gas condensates refineries, a crude oil refinery and a natural gas refinery. He added that the move comes as the Islamic Republic aims at becoming self-reliant in producing 19 highly used goods that are strategic in the oil industry, and comprise onshore and offshore drilling rigs, pumps, turbines and precision tools. It is worth noting that in the near future, Iran will commence local production of 52 petrochemical catalysts.
