Oman- Al Maha Ceramics raises capacity to meet demand

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Leading tile manufacturer Al Maha Ceramics has increased its production capacity by 1mn m2 to cater to the demand for ceramic tiles in the GCC.

Speaking on the increased capacity, chief executive Arvind Bindra said, ''The demand for quality ceramic tiles is increasing in Oman and other GCC countries.

"We have an installed capacity to produce 5mn m2 of ceramic tiles per annum and in order to fulfil the market demand we have decided to increase our production capacity.

''Customers in the Middle East have appreciated the quality and design of our ceramic tiles which has led to a surge in orders from Oman, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Jordan.

"This increase in production will not only help the company to improve the service to our dealers but also strengthen the position of the company in the region.

''The increase in capacity has been achieved by the installation of an additional press procured from SACMI. The pendular mill, bought from the Italian firm Manfredini & Schianchi, will enhance the powder production required for this additional capacity.

''Al Maha Ceramics has aggressive expansion plans which aim to double the capacity of its existing plant within the next two-three years,'' Bindra added.

Al Maha imports most of the raw materials from Europe for producing a wide variety of world-class tiles for low traffic, medium traffic and high usage areas.

The range includes an impressive choice of glazed wall and floor tiles in a variety of designs and shades to suit every decor.

The company exports its tiles to more than 12 countries across Asia and Africa and has a world-class manufacturing facility of wall and floor tiles in the Sohar Industrial Area.

Its plant is well-equipped with advanced technology and state-of-the-art machinery, which enables it to manufacture ceramic tiles which can be distinguished by the tile body strength and low moisture absorbing tendency
