Macy's Q2 net income jumps 16%


(MENAFN) Macy's Inc., the US department chain, stated that second-quarter net income jumped 16 percent to USD279 million, compared with USD241 million in last year's same period, reported AP. For the three-month period ended July 28, revenue went up 3 percent to USD6.12 billion, compared with USD5.94 billion in 2011's same period. The company said that revenue at stores open at least a year, a key gauge in measuring a retailer's health, grew 3 percent, boosted by rising online sales, moreover, for the full year, revenue at stores opened at least a year is expected to grow by nearly 3.7 percent. It is worth noting that Cincinnati, Ohio-based Macy's lifted its earnings outlook for the full year to range between USD3.30 to USD3.35 per share, up from earlier forecasts of USD3.25 to USD3.30 per share.
