Kuwait- 'No money collected for terrorist groups'

(MENAFN- Arab Times) Director of Cooperative Societies and Charity Organizations at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Bader Al-Awadhi has refuted allegations that the ministry has received a letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to report violations against some charity organizations which have allegedly collected money to sponsor some terrorist groups, reports Al-Qabas daily. Al-Awadhi explained one charity organization had requested permission from the ministry to collect donations for people of Burma. He said the ministry later contacted the Information Ministry to seek approval and clarification whether Burma was among countries for which donations are restricted. He indicated that the concerned organization was the first to approach the ministry in that regard. He affirmed if any other organization had collected donations for Burma the action would have amounted to violation of rules and regulations, so the ministry would have been cautious in dealing with this organization. He assured the ministry will take legal action against any organization caught collecting donations for Burma, even if a lawmaker or any other personality is involved.
