(MENAFN) Chesapeake Energy's Corp CEO, Aubrey McClendon, stated that second-quarter profit grew to USD929 million, compared with USD467 million in 2011's same period, reported Reuters.
McClendon added that the company's earnings were boosted by the USD584 million gain from the sale of its Chesapeake Midstream Partners, a USD490 million gain in the value of its energy derivative positions and other one-time items.
During the period, revenue reached USD3.4 billion, up from USD3.3 billion in the same quarter a year ago.
The CEO added that the company was on track to seal 3 deals in West Texas in the third quarter, including its Midland Basin producing assets to privately held EnerVest Ltd.
In the January-June period, Chesapeake has finished USD4.7 billion of sales and forecasts to announce deals for another USD7 billion in assets in the third quarter.
It is worth noting that Chesapeake forecasts its asset sales during the current year to be between USD13 billion and USD14 billion.
